The reviews I saw when it first came out were not particularly complimentary.

The British version is dire (IMO) so I can't see how the yanks can improve on it. So won't be watching.

its ok, but the brit version is much funnier

The Brit version is grittier...the yank version still has a typical undercurrent of cosy fluffiness that a lot of American dramas do.

I stand corrected as yes you did. I suppose that the best thing for me to do would be to watch it myself as I love the different contrast of language and jokes as done in the us version of the office. Thanks for answers all.

American versions of UK series are always watered down, Shameless would be too strong for their audiences.
