It's not often that I use The Socialist Worker to source answers from!

However, according to that publication (on Tuesday of this week), the eviction date has been set as 31st August:

On Monday of this week, the local newspaper reported that the Equalities and Human Rights Commission was involved in talks to see if a resolution to the dispute could be found:

Thank you so much for info + links Buenchico. much appreciated. x pusskins
Still yet to go to final stage - but it dos'nt look like green belt land anymore IMHO
Question Author
But it is known as green belt! I can see them getting away from the eviction because their all scared of the consequences ------
pusskin - who are scared?
Question Author
That surely leaves the door wide open for more to move in on lots of other land now?
Question Author
do you reckon the police , council, etc are shaking in their boots?
The gipsy ladies said what is going to happen to who ever evicts them
A bit of bravardo - how can they believe they on in right by saying e own this land? Council has already set asside m£8 for eviction of site
Question Author
oh yes, forgot about that tony v. roll on the eviction then!
thanks for reply tony v x pusskins
They probably do own the land. But owning land in a green belt doesn't give them, or anybody else, the right to build homes on it.
Question Author
thats what i thought sandy. they own the land , but mustnt be allowed to keep living on greenbelt
I didn't see the whole programme but caught the end, where threats were being made and flame throwers were devised. We all know these people have shotguns too, so I can imagine it kicking off big stylee, and if that happens..........
Question Author
thats what i mean postdog --seems pretty scarry to me. Lots of vicious stuff to come before their forced to leave
Has any one here seen the site? its huge, and they have even built houses on it, there must be thousands of people living there. I'd just keep away from the A13 and the A127 on that day of eviction. The question is WHERE are they going to go? its not like a couple of caravans there's 100s of 'em.

I certainly wont go near that area on the day either jemisa. will stay well away from the 127 + A13. god knows where they'll end up living now. No where near Romford hopefully
It was a bad day when they saw that they could break the law with impunity. If they see that the law is now going to be upheld they wouldn't be such a problem in the future.
Postdogs - a production of any weapon will only play into Police hands
Jessima - estimated as 900 - 1000 people (inc children) before some more "friends" are brought in. They all managed to accumulate there - so presumably they can disseminate from there - "but we are travellers" So why so many brick built homes - and cash in hand money - you ever watched my big fat gypsie wedding - they must be broke - lol - just think they can live in / outside normal rules

mmm! we'll see sandy. I think its going to be one god awful day for the whole area, I'd shut the windows and stay indoors if I lived near.
Although I'm not that far away either.
The press are booking up the hotels already...
