'Catfish' the film
9 Answers
What does Angela Wesselman suffer with? (The woman from the film 'Catfish').
Is what she did a crime? I've tried to find out whether she actually suffered with a mental illness but am struggling to find any answers. The reason I ask is because someone I know is doing almost the EXACT same thing that she did in the film. Is it schizophrenia? Multiple Personality Disorder? I'd really appreciate any help.

The fact of whether the film was real or not is irrelevant; there are real people out there doing these things. I read that the woman says she's been diagnosed with Schizophrenia, but obviously that could be a lie.
And yes, this is deliberate deception.

there are elements of the story which look convincingly contrived, but in real terms someone displaying such behaviour may well have:

(this is not the same as schizophrenia, in case you are wondering)
