Just seen the pics of 'bring back..' on MSN. My 3 favourites of ones shown, were Ivor the engine, Pipkins (ran home from school lunchtime to watch it-alwys missed 3 mins, but no video back then-loved it) and Metal Mickey-also enjoyed Grange Hill and Press Gang. Was Pipkins on nationwide? It was strong Birmingham accents, and back then programmes were local (ATV were 1st area to show both Sullivans and sons and daughters-read that at the time). I liked Topov the monkey and the greedy pig.Couldn't stand Hartly the hare. Does anyone else have fond memories of Pipkins? Also article says bring them back-no thanks- Bill+Ben etc were ruined when remade-repeats,yes

I really enjoyed the Woodentops, especially Spotty the dog, also Champion the Wonder House, and the Clangers - I don't remember Pipkins, maybe I was too old for that series.
My favourite "Watch With Mother" was Pogle's Wood. Hasted Mary Miungo and Midge. All they seemed to do was go up and down in that lift.
Also liked a lot of the foreign shows (badly) dubbed into English and usually shown in school holidays – The Flashing Blade, White Horses and the brilliant Singing Ringing Tree. Still scared of that dwarf tho :)

I loved Basil Brush also, but the video for my son was only watched once-he hated it, and I agreed it seemed dated.I watched new version a few times, the girl presenter was in one Harry Potter film, can't remember her name, but googled the film cast at the time-her sister was in a late night soap that flopped
