Does anyone think that the National Lottery may be fixed ? I'm not too sure, but I have my suspicions. Like the split second one of the balls pops out the machine they manage to reel off the statistics of that number almost immediately. Also, when the numbers are fed into a computer (before the cut off @1930) surely it wouldn't be too difficult for that computer to work out all the different combinations in the blink of an eye and relay that information to the lotto machine being used, so that out of all the combinations people have chosen, not one of them gets drawn. That could explain why there are so many roll-overs.

i am one of the doubters too. but how does the draw machine select the correct numbers, that is to say the ones that suit camelot? a large portion of the lottery show is pre recorded...
The reason I would think they can make comment on any number is that they have a list 1-49 and beside each number they have written its performance up to that draw .Just as in horse racing they have facts and figures on all the horses in a race As for being fixed for a start too many people would have to know and after all this time the Lotto has been going someone would have spilt th beans .

even if its a rollover...someone eventually wins.

why would they fix it ? its obviously geared in such a way that camelot make an enormous profit from the whole thing no matter what happens

Hooray!  I've been dying to say this for ages but thought I might get laughed out of here!  I've thought it was fixed from about the third week.

They could control how often the jackpot is won & by how many, & the amount won is enough to keep it more tempting than the pools.  Otherwise why don't lots of  people share it or why doesn't it go on for weeks & weeks?  It's impossible to tell exactly where those balls fall from & there's enough time to sort the winning numbers.

It's high time they fixed it for me!!!

Maybe the reason Camelot would want to 'fix' roll-overs is for massive financial gain. Think about the amount of interest all those millions would acrue. I don't know how the draw machine would select chosen (or unchosen, as the case may be) numbers, but there must be a way to do it, what with all the technology available today. Also, the 'Independant adjudicators' they use, just how 'Independant' are they ?

I would be interested to see how peoples opinions differ on this thread, as i'm sure i'm not the only person to have doubts. What would be even better would be if someone could come up with some supporting evidence, for and against the matter.

all the interest ? theyd get 7 days at most !

which would equal thousnands granted but to a big company thats peanuts

people who buy more tickets on rollover weeks make me laff.what 6 million isnt tempting but 12 is ?!!!!!

I used to work at The National Physical Laboraory where the lottery machines were first made, I also know very well someone who won 850k. I can honestly say that it is not fixed at all. There would be no point in fixing it. What would be the benefits of fixing it?

The statistics for each number is changed each week, thats how they know if for example number 44  had been drawn 67 times.

The balls themselves are only alowedd to be used 3 times then they are destroyed

Is it not the fact that because there,s money involved we suspect that  there must be cheating going on .Why cheat, the talk of roll overs ect ,sure would it not be better for the jackpot  to be won every week as the players would then be assured that at least someone would win the jackpot..A lot of factors come in to play as at most there are 31 days per month so the majority of people select between 1-31 for birthdays and other dates hence between 32-49 would be less popular things like that determine if its won I think..
Hi, I live in Australia now but I worked for them for just over 9 years and was longing to see what a triple rollover would be like as I worked in the department that dealt with the retailers but it didn't happen until after I left. It apparently caused great excitement so if it was fixed why didn't it happen before? It's definitely not fixed.
Isn't it also very odd that the lotto extra does go on & on for weeks - when was it last won?  I don't think that the lotto has ever been more than a triple rollover has it?  Imagine if it went for five/six or even more weeks & then one person won the lot & this person turned out to be a  less than deserving unsavoury character.  There would be an uproar & I doubt that they would want to risk that happening and controlling it would ensure that there were fewer rollovers.

Also, randomly drawn numbers they might well be, but there does seem to be alot of consecutive numbers drawn every week. Last nights numbers for instance : 25,26,32,39,40,42. with the bonus ball being 41.
It's me again. The normal lotto game can't keep rolling over. If I remember correctly 3 is the maximum but although having worked there for so long I can't remember what happens if it's not won 'cos it didn't occur until after I moved to Oz. If it comes back to me I'll let you all know.
You would think that after a period of time, a set of winning numbers would be shared by a large quantity of ticket holders. Not a sexy outcome for organisers, though.
