I think it is so wrong when the judges tell contestants they haven't made it to the next round, they are so upset and sobbing, then they call a load of them back and say they are giving them another chance by putting them in groups. Dont the producers have any feelings, it isn't good viewing.

Rubbish. Anyone with sense wouldn't put themselves in it to start with knowing the sort of things they might face, and sorry, from their point of view it makes riveting viewing.
It's all orchestrated anyway.
lofite is right its all set up and massively edited, you can see at times when the audience sounds that its clapping and cheering at the auditions no one is actually moving, its oh so contrived ,we still watch it (after recording it to fast forward over all the crap) but to us it only gets underway when the show becomes live
Playing with peoples emotions....
It's life. If that's the industry they want to go into they need to get used to knock backs. Celebrity isn't for the sensitive soul....
All these reality TV shows are the same. They are all based on playing on peoples emotions and people enjoy that bit of it. Let's face it, X factor is not really about finding talent. A simple talent show would do better, but it wouldn't get the audiences who love all the drama!!
I thought it was more wrong that they took all of them to boot camp, let them have their big party and then the next morning sent a massive group of them home without having sung a word.

I know it's all hugely set up from the production side of things but I thought it was a little unfair that those contestants went all that way and got sent straight home again.
Hey....they get a free holiday :-)
I have often wished I was an average singer just so I could get through to the judges houses stage and get a free holiday. Then I'd quit.
evian
they all know that some are going home. its all explained to them, its not a surprise ,they all have to sign a contract beforehand saying no discussing how the show is put together also, and the party is to give them a reward for getting so far and something to remember.personally we don't weep for any of them,
I don't believe at the very first stage of boot camp any of them knew a bunch of them would be going home before any auditions took place. Maybe I'm naive but I don't believe they are all good enough actors to have put on the shock/upset look in that instance.
then your very nieave
They got their few minutes of fame and an expenses paid party and short holiday. I don't even think you have to be an average singer to be honest, you just have to have a personality that suits what the show is all about. I think X factor is well past it's sell by date and not in the least bit entertaining any more. It's all very boring now and predictable.
or maybe niave ,
try 'naive' Deggers ;o)
Maybe you're too cynical Deggers.

P.S. look at my name and spell it backwards.
and i though i'd checked it out loftie .lol
Hadn't noticed that Evian!
