This morning she was interviewing Johnny Robinson and told him "Oh you have to play at g.a.y and they have to bring back the generation game and you could be Larry Grayson"

I actually cringed and was embarrassed for him and was a little worried at what lorraine was going to come out with next, a reference to liberace? That he should dress as one of the village people?

Does anyone think that this was rude of her to "Typecast" hi and start pigeon holing him on account of his sexuality?

No.
He has chosen to play the 'camp gay man' card and is enjoying his (brief) time in the spotlight.

Interesting viewpoint jackthehat.

If someone plays a role to a certain degree than they should expect and tolerate everyting thrown at them?

Is this what you're saying?
He'll enjoy touring the TV studios with his 'story'.....until the DWP catch up with him, at any rate.
He's a one-trick pony and that 'trick' is being a camp man......anyone making reference to that is *not* being unfair to him.
I didn't see it but it doesn't actually sound as if she said anything offensive. Unless "Larry Grayson" is a term of abuse? She seems to have been talking about the way he acts rather than what he is.
No it wasn't rude.
I saw that interview. She was talking about what he could do next and Generation Game was mentioned but I actually thought he was the one who said 'I can be Larry Grayson and you can be....'(some woman's name I've now forgotten).

I agree jackthehat, he has a talent but unfortunately that talent is not too different from the pasts "Singing binman" if you can remember him.

Yes he was adorable but hardly superstar material and soon quickly faded into the butlins scene and then on to oblivion. The place not the ride.

Jno maybe.

Postdog thanks for your input.

Scrummymummy lk was the one that mentioned it and Johnny just got involved and had a laugh with it as many embarrassed people sometimes do.

I'm sure i caught a slight cringe from him but this may be more to do with him thinking himself as a superstar and not wanting to be compared to "Low level hasbeens" or ex celebrities.

I suppose we'll only truly know if we ever see a headline saying something like "Lorraine kelly was a cow to me" and here his warts and all description of how he percieved that interview.
He's not too embarrassed to flog his dubious 'talents' on any TV magazine programme which will book him.

He'll enjoy his 15 minutes, and then that will be it....consigned to the dustbin of history.
Question Author
He still doesn't deserve to have non funny assumptions thrown at him on account of how camp he is.
See jno's earlier comment for the definitive response to that point.

Maybe we should look at this differently - if he were to be offered a gig at G.A.Y or to host a revived Generation Game would he accept the offers? If the answer is yes - which I suspect it would be - then how can it be rude to suggest it? I think these days we are far too sensitive. As a woman should I be offended if someone suggests I'd make a good mother - "typecasting me" -when maybe I want to be Prime Minister??
" from x factor " that explains my ignorance.
I didn't see the programme, but he trades on being gay, so I can't see how it was rude. I'm sure he was glad of the publicity.

Aries there's nothing wrong with playing at the g.a.y or as being given the chance to be a presenter on a once popular show, my question was why did lorraine "give him" oppurtunities that were gay related?

Had he been a black guy would she have mentioned basketball, rapping?

Do you see my point?
Your point is fallacious.

He has made a point of promoting his 'campness'........which has nothing to do with being gay.
