Was maury neing a little inappropriate?

I was just watching maury and he had a 13 year old girl on that was ran over by her grandmother or mother.
The 13 year old was crying and was saying that she's teased and bullied by her classroom peers and maury then proceeded to run his fingers across the scars which were on her inner knee and on the outside of her thigh.
Now i know maury didn't mean nothing by it and was being watched by a whole audience, crew and several million viewers.
Do you think that maybe he should've thought that one out?
Had the mother or grandmother being offended they could've easily tried a sexual assault case against him and afterall he is a multimillionaire and celebrity.
What do you think?

dont think he meant anything by it, but i see what you mean about this compensation culture, in that they could've jumped in with all kinds of accusations if theyd wanted...
i suppose if it occurred to you to be innappropriate, then it will occur to other people too, and we hear often of ridiculous law suits & accusations made of innocent behaviour, by someone after a quick buck.

i dont think he should have touched her scars for any reason really... i wouldnt like some stranger just running their fingers over my scars, at least not without asking...any more than id like a stranger running their fingers on any part of me... its not necessary...but more because its personal space really than id think he was getting a cheap thrill out of it.

i suppose its a bit like people who think its ok to put their hands on pregnant womens bellies... some like it some dont. but people seem to think its ok and dont need to ask.

Exactly my point joko, how very refreshing to find that someone else actually understood what i meant.
Anyone especially a child and a child with self confidence issues due to her scars probably would not want that interaction and highlighting of the said scars.
You would've thought that maurys people would've talked to him prior to her going on, maybe they did and his fatherly instinct may've taken over?
Still that could've been a stressful and costly mistake and no doubt someone watching that would've tried it had it been their family on maury.

i think most would have viewed it as curiosity and fatherly concern - as most on here have and they havent even seen it... but there are people who will claim compo for anything these days, and poor innocent people get accused.

i mean these days you are not even allowed to photograph children, let alone touch them...

id like to see the footage actually....do you have a link?
