How does this programme work?  It's not live so I can only think that 3 seperate endings are made.  One for guilty one for not guilty and one for a 50-50 verdict. Or it could be that there  is no phone in jury and the judge makes the verdict

Don't know if the UK People's Court works differently, but in the US, both parties sign an agreement beforehand that they'll comply with the judge's decision.  Each party, however, gets a certain amount of financial compensation for allowing their cases to be portrayed on TV.
