So David Attenborough has been caught with his proverbial filming pants down by admitting that the brilliant photography of the Polar Bear giving birth in its cave in winter conditions in the Frozen Planet.

Apparently, they filmed that in some Dutch zoo and then spliced the images into "bbbbrrrrrrrrrrr" cold shots of the Arctic.

Not quite kosher - is it? Your views and does it devalue some fantastic film footage?

I can't believe that people thought that the clip in question was not filmed under a controlled environment.
Does it really matter? Fantastic series.
Agree with Tizzi... does it really matter?
I loved Frozen Planet, and certainly don't feel cheated because some of it was filmed at a zoo.
Right back to when cream on cornflakes was really paint little is what it seems .Just dreading the announcement that its move to itv and the fat controller is really padded horror horror
So what if it was, it doesn't really matter, it was/is still a fantastic series!
Well if there are any volunteers that want to position yourselves at the mouth of a Polar Bears cave armed with a camera, just apply! Im sure the footage will be of great scientific interest. :)
Ratter, I nominate DT himself! :P
I think DT is more into wooly four legs than hairy four legs, he would never get a polar bears back legs into his green wellies!;)
Lol. I think DT is into anything with legs, Ratter! :D
I'd rather they showed that footage than omit it just because they couldn't capture it happening in the Arctic. It was a small slice of what has made possibly the best TV series this decade.. if not millenium. It was a beautiful scene in it's own right.
i didn't see the actual clip but can only agree with the 'it doesn't really matter'.

i presume they described it as a polar bear with her cubs without saying where. could have been in iceland or sainsburys for all i care.
There were just 34 complaints from millions of viewers !
There are hundreds more complaints about every single episode of Eastenders but that is not newsworthy.
If someone was stupid enough to try to film a polar bear feeding its cubs in the 'wild' the bear would kill and eat the cub! (or the camera man)
What about announcing at the top of the programme ."Some of the events in the following programme were film under staged management with the purpose of protecting the animals and makers of the programme"Sorry that was The magic roundabout
