whats up with british tv when the only things left on my recorder are danish and israeli fine progs but with subtitles.Nothing domestic caught my imagination this season at all.Anyone think I missed something?
the state of british tv has been a gradual process and seems set to continue.
I gave up watching tv a number of years ago. i watch everything i want to watch from dvd or online and refuse to buy a tv license , as it appears next to none of that funding ( over 3 billion pounds last year ) is now going into program / film making. I also note that new programs and films get shown in other countries first , most probably to generate extra income.
What ever is happening the standard of british television even with all those extra channels just is not worth the effort.
indeed i would be disapointed if i was left with that meager offering myself.
the average license to allow you to watch tv while being broadcast ( no matter what channel ) is approximately £150 per household, doesnt sound a lot £3 a week. until you realise your watching continued repeats and then only actualy watching maybe 2 or 3 hours of something you actualy fancy watching in weeks interval. On top of that they went digital so everyone either had to buy new tv's or digital boxes to even get the standard channels ( such cheek )
better to buy a box set or an indevidual movie with that money and forget terestrial tv altogether. that way you can watch what you want when you want and not have your programming dictated to you by those you pay for the service.
What gets my goat is having to pay a license fee for channels no longer woth watching.Anything decent is immediately farmed out.I do agree though Sherlock is the best of the crop.
there were some good things on, but sometime before christmas, which seems pointless, why don't they save the really good stuff for the bank holidays and put the dross on, if they have to, before.
SC, there were so many at christmas, telling us how to cook that perfect christmas meal, that i was retching at the sight of the over indulgence of it all
