God im daft dint know it was based on a book??? Musy buy xx
Brilliant books by Jennifer Worth - will have you laughing one minute and crying the next. Enjoy
I enjoyed watching Judy Parfitt playing a role where she actually smiled and had a soh, must have made a change for her. A cracking actress, with perfect diction, who does not look her 75 years, imo. How kind was it to create the character of Camilla who can ride a horse? ;)
Did you notice how babies were left outside in their prams at the front door? You would not dream of doing that nowadays. I started my nursing then and can relate to many of it .Very good and well acted.
i was slightly disappointed, but im not sure why !!!!!!!!!!
Really enjoyed it and will continue to watch. You lot obviously know more than me - who is chummy? My kids were always left in their prams in the back garden during the summer. Changed days.....
Really enjoyed it, but worrying how many memories it brought back. I am getting very old!! :o(
Wendilla, the babies outside in prams really did trigger memories - babies outside shops in prams was common. I was left outside shops in prams back in the late 40's.
And smogs!!! I used to have to wear a mask to go to school and you literally could not see your hand in front of your face - you had to almost feel your way about. Difficult to comprehend for those who never experienced it.
I used to leave my children in their pram outside. When my son was 5 days old, it was a lovely spring day and the doctor came to visit and asked why he wasn't out in the sunshine where he belonged.
When he was a couple of weeks old, I left him outside a shop and forgot I had him! I was on the way home when a friend coming the other way asked if my Mum was looking after him - Oooops!! He was still there though asleep in his pram!!
I loved it. Just what is needed for Sunday evening - pity Saturday viewing is such rubbish!
I was left outdoors in the pram all year round if it was dry. Bundled up with a stone hot water bottle. I think most babies were. Only brought in for feeds.
I'm really looking forward to watching this tonight (recorded) Glad all you on here have said how good it is. its just up my street x

Wendilla i didnt know u were a nurse i dont think! Im looking forward to books and watching again! I thnk i was left in my pram too- not done now though!!! I know my mum left her wee sis outside the butchers in the 70s........on purpose and went home lol xxx
Ooh, It was brill, wasn't it! Really enjoyed watching it, and now looking forward to next weeks episode.
I did get a bit teary-eyed, when the Spanish lady gave birth. Fantastic acting.

I'm especially looking forward to seeing Miranda, in next weeks :-)
I left my two outside shops in the early '70s, hard to imagine now. The big coach built prams we had then wouldn't have fitted in shops very easily.
