What did you think of this film?  I have read the inside cover and it looks absolutely terrifying, but I have heard that it's not that scary.  Are people saying that to make me watch it knowing that I will get scared or are they telling the truth and it's a big fuss over nothing?  Also, is it really grphic and gorey?  Ta.

I've seen this film and I wasn't hugely impressed. It's a cheap production with cheap acting; some of the more gory bits were cut (but can be seen in the DVD extras). At the time it may have been shocking but these days it would be viewed as a bit tame.

I was more revolted by 'Reanimator'!

I think exactly the type of film you're after is The Grudge, great film.
The thing thats suposed to make it scary is the upbeat way the gang torture the girls with all the happy music. Its supposed to be sadistic and make you think about how sick the killers are rather than the way they kill and how gory it is. The "Grudge" however is a laughable childs film packed full of things that heve been done to death in hundreds of other horror films. If you want gore then something like "Cannaball Haulocaust" or "Saw". If you want to fill your pants " The Ring" is good especially if you can get the origional jap versions, "Event Horizon" is quite freaky. "The People Under The Stairs" and the first "Dawn Of The Dead" are good all rounders but not particullary scary.

Acting and production is terrible.
The film is not frightening it's sick and might appeal to perverts or weirdos who enjoy violence.
After some friends of mine going on about how good this this movie was.I bought this movie from HMV in one of their buy one get free dvd offers.Personally i thought this movie was awful & the acting was rubbish.I never bothered to watch any of the extras features on the dvd.I bought this movie about a year & a half ago & have never bothered with it since.I believe it was Wes Cravens first movie.
Deore,(In a Peter Kaye Stylee) How Daaare You, The Grudge is not laughable, I for instance had 3 Pairs of substitute underware at my beck and call, I suppose what's frightenining for some isn't for others, I mean i thought the only scary bit in The Ring is at the end, you know the TV bit.;-)

Johntheplamf - I thought The Grudge (if you're on about the American version) was an absolutely appaulling film, Sarah Michelle Geller's acting was shockingly wooden and there was no real point to it.  It was a waste of an hour and a half of my life.  Would like to see the Japanese one though.

delboy3 - Haven't seen Reanimator myself, but my fella has it at home along with Beyond Reanimator.  They look a bit weird but I'll give them a go.  If you like Weirdy-freaky horrors like Reanimator you might like House of 100 Corspes.  It is just bizarre.

Deore - I feel pretty much the same way about The Ring as I do the Grudge, it was pointless and not scary and didn't really make a lot of sense, or none that was that interesting.  I would like to see the Japanese on though.

Ray the Dj - I'm not a pervert or a weirdo.

Scariest film I have seen is The Entity.  Fear.com spooks me and I have finally managed to watch Texas Chain Saw Masacre in one go all the way through (in broad day light last Sunday afternoon!)
