Is the word Celebrity the most over used word in the English language nowadays, not to mention wrongly used in this programme?

Famous dad?
Nightclub owner?
Lady?
Love Cheat?

The only exception is the lovely Jayne Middlemiss, and that bloke who used to be Beppe.

Unfortunately, I only caught the last half hour of Love Island.... and I know what you mean.  I do not like Abi Titmiss....I can't see how she is a celebrity through making a home video and presenting a p*rn channel.. as for the others... I don't think I'll be watching this programme.

What is the meaning of the word celebrity?  does it not mean someone in the public eye?  i dont think it just means actors/presenters or talented people

The thing is, I have literally never heard of two of the people on this show, and as I'm a bit of a gossip mag addict I think it's fair to say they're stretching the definition of the word 'celebrity' somewhat.

I have to say I was so disappointed in Jayne Middelmiss Last nite she really let her self down,There is something wrong if you cry like a baby for your Mam when your in a beautiful place like that,some people are never happy,I mean its not like you even have to do anything other than laze about in the sun for a weeks and talk to a few good looking blokes, must be awfuly hard for her.violins out!

Jayne showed signs of a breakdown through severe insecurities (the need for walls to make her feel protected) and this was after only 24 hours on the island.

I agree with the whole CELEB thing tho, a really good example is all the celebs on THE FARM on CH5. granted a few are celebs but what about the guy who is there cos he dated Celeb "Jesse Wallace" he isnt a celeb in his own right, if this was the case then this years big brother could be filled with people we havent heard of but are all celebs simply cos they had a fling or once dated years ago a celeb! Seems to me that a "Celebrity" is someone that the media/newspapers decide has the most gossip or tittle tattle to spill in the paper!
