Really disturbing film, but thought it was really realistic. Ray Winstone is superb as always.
I thought it was excellent, I watched it a long time ago so I cant remember the gory details but as butterfly says, it was disturbing and that sort of thing does happen behind closed doors.
Very realistic ... I live where it was filmed as well .. ooo-er!!
Ray Winstone and Kathy Burke were fantastic.  I felt sad that Kathy Burke went back to him in the end.  I don't think it is just a portrayal of alcohol abuse, I think it portrays a style of life that thousands of people live everyday and I think it is realistic.
If you did like the film by the way, watch "Once Were Warriors".
Thoroughly enjoyed it - chilling portrayal with two fine actors in Ray Winstone & Kathy Burke.  Had to look away at the bit where he whacked her with the pool cue when she was pregnant!
