Was so shocked when they shot those male baby calves in the head that I burst into tears. I had no idea that they slaughtered all the newborn males because they had no use for them. So sad : (

Agree 2shortplanks - why IS there such a stigma about veal?
because the way white rather than rose veal was produced using the now illegal crate system that restricted their movement keeping the meat very tender and very pale
Bet youv'e eaten poor little bambi as well crafty lol.
I have indeed tony..................a bit rich for me.
Same thing with baby male chicks. They`re no good for laying. My friends used to have a lorry that came around for them. They got behedeaded and the whole lot was ground up and ended up as potted chicken paste.
It wouldn`t take long to educate the public that eating rose veal is less inhumane than veal. Trouble is, there`s no money in it for farmers and it would only be produced as a sort of welfare project.

lol tony.

Agree the white veal way sounded rather cruel, but not the rose. And I bet the people who wont eat veal eat eggs and chicken, and they are totally cramped being raised , unless they are free range.
