does anyone else remember a childrens programme in the seventies either called teddy edward or with that character.

Yes, it was based on a series of books and the TV series used photos from the books. The series was narrated by then newsreader Richard Baker ( who also narrated Mary, Mungo and Midge ).

There was no animation in the series, the camera would just pan or track over the photos.
