Nathan on Superstar
14 Answers
I see that Nathan has been voted out of Superstar. To me he was the best singer in the group and definitely had the look to play Jesus.
It seems as usual that the media hype plus ALW's comments about him, put out about him being a diva and overconfident has worked and I feel that as a result of this, he has lost his place in the competition.
I do not think that the judges should play the likeability card they should be impartial and comment only on singing talent, it is not fair to try to influence votes by making personal comments.
If people voted him out because they genuinely did not like his singing voice, then fair enough, but to vote him out because they did not like him is completely wrong.
Talent shows should be about talent not likeability. I am sure that there are plenty of talented singers and actors etc. that are totally unpleasant and if we all went on likeability alone then half of them would disappear from the scene!

Dodger666 you may be right!
Thanks for the thoughts so far, playing the bully/overconfident/diva card seems to be requisite for talent shows nowadays, they love to get the public to 'hate' a contestant, I expect it gets everyone talking and therefore show more interest in the programme.
Ric.ror, I guess that in reality they have the people already chosen for all the roles, probably Jesus as well, but to get the public to choose a main character will get more publicity for the show. I expect whoever wins, if he is not up to the part, will be quietly dropped after a couple of months.
Yes you are right I expect that we will see local shows with runners up, unless they can get roles in big west end productions!

I agree he has the look, but the others can get the look too. Just grow their hair and get some facial hair. He does have an expressive face, which Roger doesn't. But Roger has the better voice of the two. Ben definitely has the best voice in my opinion.
I think they all have very good voices though and have enjoyed listening to them, just for the musical value of the show.

It was obvious from the beginning that Nathan was going to be controversial, he was the only member from his rock band to get through and he did come across as big headed and divaish so the media played on this. He was the better singer in the sing off. Roger is the nicer person so niceity wins over talent.Roger is a great singer but not suited to the Jesus role. If the Lord isn't happy he will let us know!
Fantastic semi final tonight I thought, the four who took part were all excellent, such nice personalities too, which is truly needed to play the part of Jesus! They all seem such good friends, this was evident when David was voted off, they were so genuine. I think Andrew has parts lined up for all 4 of them. I like all three who are to be in the final, Ben, Roger and Rory, its hard to choose, but I'm with Dawn, I have liked Roger from the very start! But I do think Ben will win, he has a fantastic voice. By the way, aren't the judges brilliant, much better than on the other reality shows, they make constructive remarks and give praise to encourage them, not like the spiteful ones on Dancing on Ice or Celebrity come dancing - dreadful! Dawn has surprised me at how nice she is in real life (didn't like her in tv series) I think Andrew did right to criticise Nathan last night, he needed to be told, and hopefully will make him a better person, he wasnt modest enough, and that big headed trait angered Andrew (as it does me!) - bring on the final! :)
Nathan had to go. In my view he did not have as good a voice as the remaining four, and the 'look' can be achieved in make up within half an hour. It was right of ALW to bring out the crown of thorns issue as this was not necessarily known to the voting public. He said I fear you walking into a rehearsal room full of seasoned actors..........he would not last. Having said that he will re-appear somewhere I am sure just like the lad in Joseph who asked ALW "What do you know?" I remember cringing in my own living room to see a talented young man make such a blunder. He apologised later, but the damage was done Joseph you were not.
