How fantastic was that? Mr Q and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing with just a couple of things that we personallly didn't enjoy as much. The NHS section went a just a bit too kong, Dizzy Rascal - nothing against him but just don't like this type of music. Artic Monkeys? what was that first song about? they were really bad. I went to bed when Pauly came on at the end, after his Diamong Jubliee singing I didn't want to hear him. But who were the group who were singing on that grassy hill around 10 to 9? They were absolutely great. Roan Atkinson was funny, Daniel Craig was great and nice to see Becks had a good part.
The whole thing just made be very proud to be British (or English). Well done Danny Boyle.

Fantastic show - although I thought the NHS bit was peculiar. The joke entrance of the Queen with James Bond was brilliant.
The technical stuff in the early parts - with the cast clearing away the grass and fields, and the industrial chimneys coming up - was first rate.

You seem to be alone in your narrow minded views. Here's what some of the world press said: "It could well have been the most astonishing moment in modern Olympic history."
“Records will always be broken, athletes will come and go, but we'll never see anything like that again."
The ceremony "was like a party you never wanted to end, a book you didn't want to finish."
vetuste_ennemi –the sooner you find a copy of Shelley's A Refutation of Deism the better. Maybe you will then stay away from AB.

The forging of the rings was technically clever, the chimneys rising up was clever, the NHS bit was embarrasing, and the rest was messy and mixed up.The first green hill, maypole bit was horribly twee. The musical 'clips' were ridiculously clipped and perhaps the second line of the sex pistols famous song would have caused a reaction as well as Frankie's song relax which if your'e old enough to remember was banned on the BBC because of the lyrics and video. What was the 'abide with me' and weird dancers bit about? The coy texting couple made me want to chuck, but maybe I was missing the point. We are a completely messed up nation,we have amazing ideas and ability but we've lost the plot!
I enjoyed most of it a great deal, although I felt thet the NHS bit was overlong - my OH made me snort my tea up my nose when he came in at the beginning, looked at the grassy knoll and enquired when the Telly-Tubbies were making an apearance. I thought that the children's choirs singing the national anthems were brilliant, and like some other ABers felt that the newer music was fairly unnecessary, and someone really should turn Paul McCartney out to grass now. Daniel Craig and Her Majesty were excellent, and although I don't like Mr Bean, I thought he was very amusing. I think that it showed a lot of originality, and the final touch with the petals turing into the Olympic cauldron was fascinating. Who was the man with the guitar at the very start of the display?
