if you could re-do the London 2012 Closing Ceremony using any living British artists you like, who'd be in your line-up? You're welcome to state which 2 tracks you'd like them each to play.

I think Adele would have been good. Don't know which songs though. Maybe Hometown Glory.

Pink Floyd doing Wish you were here.
This was covered pretty well on Buenchico's thread a few days ago http://www.theanswerb.../Question1161252.html

I was amazed that the Rolling Stones were not mentioned even once in the Ceremony or any of their songs, one of our greatest bands along with the Beatles over the last 40 years and not included, shame on them.
they were invited to perform live but declined to attend
I think The Beatles are so over hyped; it was nearly 50 years ago for goodness sake? Were they a good band? Yes, but they were not Gods. As a certain Dan Le Sac and Scrobious Pip pointed out - "They were just a band?".

Having said that, I would have had both The Beatles and the Stones in at the start of 50 years of British music before including the mighty Zep (Bonham Junior on drums), The Who, and some incarnation of the Bluesbreakers, if they could put their egos aside for one night. The Seventies would have some disco, some glam rock, Bowie, Steve Harley, punk, (Pistols, Stiff Little Fingers, Stranglers) and The Specials. The NWOBHM would take us into the Eighties and I would hand over to someone else as I drifted away from music around here for a while.
I think if you are going to have younger artist without any real worldwide of their own they could do covers such as that young girl sqwaking the queen songs
I would also have chosen a range of songs with links to the games - such as Gold by Spandau Ballet
worldwide hits
I know quite a few big acts turned down the invitation but I am surprised The Police weren't asked ( Every Breath you Take would have been good).
I also think Vera Lynn would have been good- very British and We'll Meet again would have gone down well.
Also I think there should have been some reference to Musical Theatre- Andrew Lloyd Weber.
factor30, I thought either We'll Meet Again or Pete and Dud's Now Is The Time To Say Goodbye would have made great closing songs, great singalongs.
