Yes, set in Sicily. Nothing too gruesome (like the Swedish police series). Always sunny. Salvo Montalbano is very attractive.

Hello Quizziwig, Yes, looking forward to seeing the delectable Salvo again!
but what did you think of the latest Wallander ? A good story but not up to it's usual self with that annoying grainy sepia filmed sequences - totally un-neccessary in my opinion!

To be honest Rolf as Kurt is not my favourite but he was good in this short series but as you say the quality of the film was dreadful. A different type of storyline with a woman baddie instead of the usual man as the killer - still a bit gruesome though. I thought the recent Kenny Wallander series was boring. Krister was always my favourite Kurt. But roll on Saturday!!!

Like Inspector Montalbano very much-if you can read the books-I've been collecting them for years. My 'mental picture' of Salvo isn't really like Luca Zingaretti but he's not too bad and the cast of other characters are great. Undemanding fare but worth the watch. The Wallander on Saturday was good-but the flickering images were annoying (especially for me as an epeleptic) It was a German production I think, a good adaptation.

I think the current Wallender was the first one they ever made, hence it looks like a fairly cheap production, same as the first run of most series. So glad Montelbano's back, we're away for 3 weeks so the box'll be bursting when we return, keep us going to Christmas and beyond.
