To me that's like asking what my all time favourite song is. It depends on my mood, but here are some, in top-ranking order according to today's mood.

James Stewart
Kevin Spacey
Richard Dreyfuss
Tim Curry
Gary Oldman

Now the ladies

Sigourney Weaver
Meryl Streep
Charlize Theron
Thandie Newton
Do you want us to say Dustin Hoffman?
Tom Hanks and Johnny Depp are my favourite actors. It's weird but I never think about actresses for some reason.
Question Author
No Tilly. Dustin deserves a mention but feel free to express yourself !
Daniel Day Lewis for me but the right actor needs to be given the right role to flex his muscles.
Anthony Hopkins.................
The greatest actor ever?

Ken Dodd, at Liverpool Crown Court?

Rupert Murdoch, at the Leveson Inqiry?

Or, for some more serious answers, how about Walter Matthau, James Stewart, Jack Lemmon, John Gielgud or John Sessions?

Dustin Hoffman might just make my top 500. Tom Cruise would struggle to get into my top 5000.
I think Tom Cruise is actually a very good actor, when he isn't in a lead role though...
Al Pacino is the most intense
Geraldine McEwan can act.....doddery old Miss Marple.....then watch her as the evil nun in The Magdelene Sisters.....as I said, she can act.
O.K. Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep
I liked Tom Cruise in Legend.
Tom Hanks is good, as is Rhys Ifans, and I also like Jane Horrocks.
Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple? She's nowhere near as good as Joan Hickson! I simply can't watch her in the role!
(To be fair though, the BBC version had bigger budgets and better direction).
buster keaton & charlie chaplin
I do like Jane Horrocks as well.

Tom Hardy is a very good actor. Even though he hasn't done a lot of big films yet, I think that he is going to be one of the best this country has produced!
Buenchico - I take your point about Joan Hickson as Miss Marple but I doubt if she could have acted Sister Bridget, however....both good.
Question Author
Robert De Niro is probably my favourite actor because of Deerhunter, Godfather 2 and Meet the Fockers - a massive range of acting talent. I love Pacino but he doesn't have the same range and the humour. Laurence Olivier was brilliant in Henry V etc. !!!!
Dustin H was good in Kramer vs Kramer
Ab Editor.:-)

Ron.
Question Author
