Apart from the cosmetics, was it any good? If so, I'll try to catch it on i-Player, or whatever its called.
Mmmmmm not that impressed - too simplistic on the content.

The programme of the night for me was the Fiona Bruce one on the Turner "write-offs" in the Welsh National Museum - fascinating.

I generally like Marr's work.

With this one it was as though some one said "broad brush Andy, big impact statements!" and what I saw was broad brush, big mascara, honest.

Even the poor get being flogged for all sorts of jackladdery (Marr intones over something about laws being invented) was kohled beyond up to the eyeballs.

I'll give it a go next week though
I thought more of the same and get an autocue on a stick like Jake Humphries so you don't have to keep looking down for your lines.
I enjoyed this - a very watchable hour's TV & I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

fair enough

it ought to work, but it's not doing for me on this showing
I liked it, kick started a few things I had almost forgotten and added a few new ones, worth sticking with.

I will too LiK and mamya, I will

I'm just a bit worried about when they get to the britons and woad.
'Woad betide them, wattle become of them' lol
Question Author
mamya!!

nnff
Ancient Egyptians used lots of kohl as eyeliner, so nothing wrong in showing them with eyeliner now, but the re-creations sometimes verged on the silly. The Neothilic man looked like Oddjob from Carry On Screaming.
But the science and archaeology were interesting
Question Author
If there's the same tonnage of woad on the britons as they had kohl on the egyptians, no wonder we've got the fens
far too simple, like an unfunny Horrible Histories.
