Yes frightening, having known one person
Bizarre. Seems odd that only girls were affected.
Question Author
Conversion disorder is a condition in which a person has blindness, paralysis, or other nervous system (neurologic) symptoms that cannot be explained by medical evaluation

I'm struggling with this.
These girls are subconsciously copying people with genuine symptoms ........bizarre

I hate that, no definite answer as to what the problem was.

I don't believe the contagious conversion disorder idea
The whole thing was hard to believe. The fact that most of them were cured after antibiotics was odd too. At the end it said that 2 more cases were reported in Sep 2012. Wonder what the outcome of the new cases was. Hmmmm... only in America?
Scary mommy might have had something to do with a couple of the worst cases.
It is hard to believe the conversion disorder thing. I thought before I watched it that they might find out it was just a hoax but watching those girls ticks looks so uncomfortable there's no way they are putting it on. It must be really scary.
Missed this, but reading some of the responses I want to see it now. Which channel was it on?
It was on C4 at 9pm. Sure it will be on demand and repeated.

It was really interesting.
ty for the info evian
There is no way these girls could fake it. Especially the N N N N one.

Losgigs - they didn't all have the anti-biotic's. Some were being treated for conversion disorder.
didn't see it but googling took me here

Also the anti-b's didn't cure the girls, they only helped to reduce some of the effects.
That was one of the diagnoses given Jno but there were other doctors who strongly disagreed with it.
The symptoms reduced in both groups...except that one girl.
Interesting programme for the first 45 minutes, with a wholly unsatisfactory conclusion.

That's if you can call it a conclusion. AFAICT we don't know what it was, what brought it on or if any of them fully recovered.
Yeah, sorry Ummm. Was just trying to point out to Los that they weren't 'cured'.
Did you watch Freaky Sleepers that followed?
No, I was busy. Worth watching?
Yeah...scary stuff. One lad jumped out the window in his sleep and fell 30ft. Didn't even break a bone!!
