I loved it. The script moved away from the usual Royle Family model of being a parody of reality TV into something close to the surrealism embraced by the writers of Father Ted, which made a refreshing change.
I never did 'get' the Royle Family programmes. Found them buttock clenchingly embarrassing and not at all funny. Think that was one of the first of the 'unfunny' sitcoms which didn't actually have anything funny about them.
Not brilliant but a good effort. Creased up when Jim invited the lady at the table to help herself to the 'Reggie-Reggie sauce', along with the 4 'varieties' on the cheeseboard!
Not to mention Dave's unlosable keys that are destined for Dragon's Den.
