Not watching it yet, but judging what comes on afterwards might be a bit of a clue.
what does it mean by "richest"?
the one which made the most money Boxy, very poor choice of language imo.

The richest song is the one that made the most money. The richest man is the one with the most money. Don't see a problem.
It's a poor description - the song which made the most money doesn't make the song itself rich, it makes other people rich.

This ain't the best song show ! Its the song that made the most money !
Wouldnt the "richest" song be the song that has sold the most copies?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_singles

however the best selling album has sold more copies than the best selling single
Question Author
Happy Birthday is the answer. BUT who made the money out of it ?
Question Author
The Hill Sisters and the Warner Group apparently !
I still think it's a daft title for the programme.
Dumbing down.
Question Author
I still think that the alleged £30 million made from the song is only a tiny proportion of the royalties due. £30m was collected by the copyrighters (Hill Sisters) (allegedly) and Warner Group who bought the copyright for £25m. Did you ever declare to the licensing authorities that you were singing "Happy Birthday" ?
