How could the guy who traced over an image in photoshop have the brass neck to stand alongside those two artists and not hang his head in shame?

As soon as nonsense like this gets talked about it becomes artistic by virture of its effect. Compare Emin's bed and Warhol's Soup, we know its rubbish but they become art because of the effect on the Zeitgeist...........oh dear, now look what I've done!
ok mystress, I'd define it as the creative endevours of mankind. To produce something that's sole purpose is is to represent and and reflect on the world around us. I'm not a modern art hater, but I don't think that talentless creativity has the same worth as talented creativity. I actually liked the glimpses of the guys abstracts that were shown, but to stand alongside two other people with ability pouring out of every orifice and offer up a tracing (and not a very good one, at that) simply takes the p!ss.
on the other hand Chillum it does seem to represent and reflect on the world around us!
We shouldn't get hung up on technology (I know this wasn't the sole cause of your complaint) - but artists have always used the latest things, from Van Eyck and oil paints to Hockney and polaroids; using photoshop isn't morally inferior to those.
If you don't like what he does with it, or the resulting work... that's another matter, of course...
