Am I reading this right that this guy was demoted from his job at the BBC because of his voice .To think of some of the annoying ,gringing people we have put up over the years and Mr Murrays accent is brough in to question.
Shame on the BBC. A nice, honest guy who is a genuine football fan and is enthusiastic when he presents it.
And please, let's not *** off his accent. Can't be any worse than the dour Alan 'Mr Charisma' Hansen and Mark 'thinks he's a comedian when commentating but isn't' Lawrenson.
My asterisked word rhymes with blag, but with an s instead of the b.
How does that happen, when others seem to be able to type p!ss, sh!t, b*gger and almost anything else without the censor kicking in?
As I read it, CM is being demoted because his forthright observations are upsetting a number of the movers and shakers within the football community -Alan Hansen included.
From my casual viewing of football puditry, knowledge, a reasonable face, a personality, something informed to say,and a decent accent to say it with, are certainly not requirements - otherwise how is Adrian Chiles employed - he ticks none of those boxes!
When did what hansen to say matter to anyone .Mr Murray was a breath of fresh air .Hope this is the end of the beeb and football .Whos got a worse voice than hansen and the cant stand lawrence knowall .
...hope this is the end of the beeb and football...
I hope not since I much prefer MOTD to the highlights show that ITV used to show when they had the rights.
And Colin Murray is fine by me (Fighting Talk on R5 is good fun) and there are always going to be some (usually English) people who find a strong accent off-putting.
I also quite liked his proper footie fan questions rather than the usual boring chat.
Hansen and Lawrensen should be moved on anyway as they haven't played the game for 20 odd years.
As with Adrian Chiles, I am perfectly willing to accept that CM is not a congenital idiot who has to be dressed in the mornings.
But that is based on my willingness not to judge on appearences - it is not related to his presentation style on TV, which gives every indication that he lacks anything approaching a personality, or ability to interact with any other members of the human race.
Colin Murray has just fronted BBC coverage of BDO World Darts and I think he's a breath of fresh air. With football too he's got enthusiasm and is knowledgeable. Trouble with football at the BBC is its still very much an 'old boy's club' with Alan 'I always get in the first comment at half time' Hansen and Mark 'I hate any player who's not English and I bore for England at a professional level' Lawrenson still on our screens week after week. Murray didn't really stand a chance. Its a shame.
