I have seen no-one suggest that Philpott deserves anything less than a lengthy jail sentence. Personally, I don't think he deserves to be 'put down', but don't let that stop you banging on about Human Rights, etc.
Since the Homicide act of 1957, this crime would not have been punishable by the death penalty anyway.
And he is only to be sentenced for the manslaughter of his children. He has already been sentenced and served the sentences for the other crimes of which he has been convicted. Although undoubtedly his violent nature will be taken into account by the Judge. It is quite possible that he will get a discretionary life sentence or an IPP. I do hope so.
If it is not appropriate to murder people as an individual then it is not appropriate to murder people who have done that by means of the death penalty.
That doesn't matter Evian. As long as the pitchfork wielding "hang em high" brigade get their pound of flesh, it matters not that an innocent man could hang.............
