I'm not sure whether or not to open an e-mail from [email protected] as the first few words state that they have an appointment with me re my TV on tuesday. Sounds ominous to me. Don't know anything about it and I wonder if someone is hacking into my PC. What would you do?

Does the email actually mention your name ?.
Give them a ring first.
Tonyav's response is the one that matters. Any genuine email purporting to be from a service to which you subscribe - Paypal, bank, TV service provider, ANYTHING - will be addressed to you IN PERSON, not as customer/user/client etc. If it doesn't, you can be almost 100% sure it's bogus.
Humf!! Mine is sensible too. Lol :)
Apols Chrissa - your response appeared while I was still typing mine.

Thx for yr prompt replies. My name is on my e-mail address tho they haven't mentioned it as I've not opened it. Alongside the e-mail it states: You have received this e-mail as part of your tv service. Thursday 2
Tempted to open it but perhaps I should phone first as you say Chrissa. Hmmm.
Better safe than sorry potty64.
Just opening the email is unlikely to harm your PC in any way, do not click on any links within the email unless you are convinced it is genuine, Sky always use your name, never 'dear customer' or similar.

Thx all! I've e-mailed SKY & will 'take it' from there. Phoning is useless!! Will let you know the outcome in due course!!
I got this email, it says you have an appointment with Mr Lecter, it's to promote the new Hannibal series that starts next Tues, I'll try and copy it to here.
I can't edit my email address out of any links so I can't show it but the email is definitely from Sky, as I said it's advertising a new Hannibal Lecter thriller series.

Just searched for this thread as I also have this e-mail, same as Rocky. It just says you have an appt with Dr Lecter on Tuesday. Perfectly legit and safe. It's advertising their new drama 'Hannibal' , a prequel to Silence of the Lambs.
