I think all those tv writers who praised it in advance must be cringing at the reaction to this dreadful '70's throwback - not because it caricatures gay men as nasty mincers, which it does, but because it is terminally unfunny.

I watched the opening of the first episode when John Inman (sorry I mean Derek Jacobi) was on the phone doing a terrible over the top gay reaction when he heard a person had died.
Those opening few minutes were so awful I gave up and turned over.
We seem to have some awful new comedy on TV at the moment with "Not Going Out" plumbing new depths, and "The Wright Stuff" from Ben Elton also terrible.
I have tried to watch all three of the above and given up after a few minutes on each as they were so bad.
