What Is Happenning With Modern Tv?
6 Answers
Must they spoil every program for you? OK Sky+ insist on giving the game away in the write up on the "i" button so I've stopped reading those, now the bleeding announcer is telling you what's going to happen. Every program now has a pre spoiler before each section. It's becomming almost impossible to watch something without knowing some aspect of the story before it happens! Why are they spoling every show? before each break it's "comming up" why? sorry bit of a rant!

The Sky Arts channel has been showing some of the old "Tales of the Unexpected" TV shows where often the final scene is very important as it is an unexpected ending.
But if you read the text on the "I" button the write up often gives the ending away, which totally spoils the whole episode.

all the programmes these days, especially the american imports, have multiple advertising breaks - three or four times an hour, some lasting six minutes
i timed an episode a few weeks ago, and during the one hour time slot assigned to it - the running time itself was only 42 minutes .. the rest was junk
The broadcasters might have picked this up from the USA. I was over there in 1989 (yes, it's a long time ago, but this might still be relevant), and I noticed that, several minutes before a news broadcast was aired, announcers would give snippets of the news items that were to be shown. By the time the actual broadcast came on, I knew what most of the topics were, and the news slot wasn't half as interesting as it might have been. So, that's a kind of 'spoiler'.
