Way back in my young days, it was wooden boards on scaffolding that we sat on, and the exit at the east end of the esplanade (where the bands come down at the end) didn't have that sort of tunnel thing, and now there are proper seats to sit on too! Would recommend it as an experience, though I haven't been able to persuade Queenie to come and see it at least once - we'd need to be able to guarantee that it wouldn't rain!
Yes we went a few years ago with two grandchildren - there were a few regiments back from Afghanistan and they marched in desert camouflage - very moving as the boys' dad was in Afghan at the time. When we walked up to the castle the crowd was do dense that Grandad Grump had to lift the little one up - he was only about 3 - and he was so frightened in the crush. The whole experience was amazing - although the tiered seating was quite an experience Yes The old black bear gets me every time. What about those motorcyclists
