Like I say, gness. Its a light-hearted thread requiring light-hearted responses. And anyway, if ,as seems, some people took offence(god help us) surely one or two people registering said offence would suffice. When half a dozen come on to say exactly the same thing it smacks of bandwagon jumping and bullying.
I notice gollob hasn't come back. I just hope he/she has better things to do on a friday night and isn't mortified at the ap app abuse hurled at him/her.

I'm somewhat baffled.
Here's a question branding people as thickos with no obvious sign of humour or irony, with some polite responses suggesting that knowledge and intelligence are not the same thing.
Seems perfectly reasonable to me.
No one's been offfended so far as I can see.
I know very clever people who are hopeless at quizzes and I have friends who are brilliant at quizzes who I wouldn't class as particularly bright.
It's what you know - and especially a good memory for useless information

The main reason I get so annoyed is because when you go for an interview you have to fill in forms saying what are your favourite subjects and what are your worse. You get all questions on different subjects so they get a good idea of your general knowledge. If the couples on todays programme all said films is not their favourite subject why the hell are the researchers and producers putting in rounds on films. As most of the contestants said they had not go a clue on films what was this round doing there in the first place
What is the point of researchers going all round the country to get people on who know nothing about the subject. It seems the show surrounds the banter between the two hosts and the quiz is just a secondry thing
The show is called Pointless yet some rounds do not have a pointless answer among them. All seems rather pointless to me

GOLLOB, you said in a previous thread that the show was wrong to say Paddy Ashdown was the first leader of the LIb Dems but he was the leader of the Social and Liberal Democrats in 1988 and was leader still, when its name changed to the Liberal Democrats in 1989.
If you can get it wrong with internet access, no pressure and no cameras, do you think the Pointless contestants are thick still?

I suppose half the fun is judging contestants really, but until you have been on the show or one like it you can't really know what it's like to try to think quickly when there are cameras and several people staring at you with a limited time to come up with an answer. It's so much easier to think clearly when you're sat on the settee with a computer or even books to hand and no pressure.
