Films That Have Aged Badly
24 Answers
Was watching a film on 'catch up tv' which I haven't seen for over 20 years the other day.
I was really looking forward to it, but as I was watching it, realised that in the intervening decades it had gone from awesome to awful.
That film was 'Superman II'.
As a kid, I LOVED that film...but now it just seemed rubbish.
Which films have disappointed you after years of loving them?
(On the opposite end of the scale, each time I watch The Godfather Pt II, I find it better and better).

I think that Alien has stood the test of time, because so much of it relied on atmospherics and what you don't see as opposed to what you do.
Incidentally, I saw Jurassic Park with my 13 year old nephew the other day, and the special effects in that are still surprisingly good. And that's over 20 years old.

curiously - considering the plot of Singin' in the Rain - it was Debbie Reynolds who had to be dubbed in some of the songs.
And let me just paste this from IMDB:
Filming of the Cyd Charisse dance number had to be stopped for several hours after it was discovered that her pubic hair was visible through her costume. When the problem was finally fixed, the film's costume designer Walter Plunkett said, "It's OK, guys, we've finally got Cyd's crotch licked."
