Saw the new film this week, and was wondering if the differenncesfrom the original, were based on the book e.g.

Charlie having a dad

Violet takinhg her Mum and not her Dad to the factory, and Mike taking his Dad and not his Mum. It's the other way round in the 1st movie.

No soda pop that makes Charlie and grandpa Jo fly

No everlasting gobstopper trick

The squirrels

Also, I recognise Mrs Boregard, and Mike Teevee. Any idea what they've been in?

Cheers

Mrs Beauregarde has been in quite a few films, here's a link. That was Jordan Fry's (Mike Teevee) first film.
Wikipedia has an entry on the differences between the book and the two film versions of it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_differences_betwee n_the_book_and_film_adaptations_of_Charlie_and_the_Choco late_Factory
Funny, we were discussing these very differences the other day! It's been a while since I read the book, but if I remember correctly, in the book there was no flying soda pop, and there were squirrels, not geese.

Thank you very much

My understanding is the new film is based on the book. The only thing that isn't based on the book is the background story of Willy Wonka.
