Please help name that film!?

Does anyone know the name of the film where an astronaut is space walking and then gets blinded by the sun. On his return to earth they discover that his accident in space has given him powers. Super smell, hearing, holding his breath etc etc. When out in daylight he has to where sun glasses all the time. Who of you film buff's can help me ?

The only one I know is Deep Impact. When the astronauts are on the surface of the asteroid after planting a nuclear bomb deep inside it, they don't get back to the ship before the Captain of the mission, Orin Monash, gets blinded by the sun. Is that the one you were thinking of?

Hamish, its not Deep Impact as you realised in your second anwser. Its a film I saw when I was a wee lad and would love to see again. It has to be at least 15-20 years old. When he emerges from his accident back on earth his eyes are completely red, but he has inherited these amazing powers! Nice try Hamish.............does anyone out there know?

i remember it and have been talking about it ffor years but no-one i know remembers it. i always thought of it as a tv series or a pilot but after a little digging i found it was filmed in 1986 and starred peter levin. and the show was called northstar and i think the main character was jack northstar but i might be wrong

Cheers snotmonkey, I think you might have it! My memories of the film are sketchey, but then I was only 10 years old. I had a feeling that Northstar had something to do with the title. I'll check out the net, see if I can find out any more and post another answer on here.

Snotmonkey you were spot on! I found it, but still have little detail on the film. It was called 'Northstar', released in 1986 and is only 75mins long. Directed by Peter Levin, the story unfolds that an Astronaut obtains superhuman powers after a solar abnormality. He then uses his newly gained powers to track down his comrades killer on earth. Now I can sleep peacefully tonight.......whoopeeeee!
