Saturday Night Tv

tonights tv is dreadful. i only have freeview and i am really struggling to find anything to watch. Hmm splash or the voice ...................... er neither . well i have decided to turn tv off and listen to some decent music for an hour and then maybe watch a dvd.
Id really love the opportunity to tell tv programmers what i think about the rubbish that passes for entertainment these days

Saturday night is appaling! It has been for years unless you enjoy z-listers singing, dancing, or skating. Unfortunately, this sort of stuff gets huge audiences so must be popular with some people? Go for the music, have a read, or try the radio?

reality this reality that but its not reality its a travesty. z listers trying to restart flagging careers. i know now why Christmas tv appeared to be on the whole quite good............. the rest of the year it is appalling !

Totally agree that it is rubbish. It makes me wonder if they are catering for the majority audience, then that audience is in a sorry state. Luckily my freeview is also a recorder and I have loads in reserve for times like this.

Can't stand the tv now .lets just say that those on it are doing a job .so what it that make people watch people doing a job .much as I admire plumbers I would not want to watch them for hours .but give me a good brickie aye .

Two suggestions:
Put on The Doctor Blake Mysteries
Put on Father Brown
These have been excellent afternoon programmes on BBC 1 and deserve a wider audience
Also WPC 56 and the Indian Doctor, not forgetting Moving On

Do these programmes attract good audiences or is it just cheap entertainment that doesn't cost much to produce. I too am catching up with films I have recorded.

What did people do for entertainment before telly? I agree most weekends are rubbish. No soaps, lol!

BBC4 have The Bridge, but apart from that it's dire.

I enjoyed Hostages, on Channel 4 at 9 - several storylines - 14 more to go, but try to catch up on episode 1 to see if it's your taste.

We record things in the week so we can watch them on a Friday and Saturday. Both of which are dire. I wonder what Sunday evenings will be like after Sherlock finishes tonight!

I watched Sally Lockhart on Drama followed by The Bridge on BBC4 which is really gripping.
Otherwise there was absolutely nothing else that appealed to me. I agree about recording programmes during the week and watching them on Saturday evening.
I've struggled to like Sherlock and have watched both episodes, but I'm sure that I'm missing something as so many of you really enjoy it.

I watched the next 2 episodes of The Bridge. And before that I watched some stuff on Netflix. I'm trying to make the most of my 1 months free trial before I cancel.

I recorded Gone with the wind over Christmas, (no, nothing to do with sprouts), A film I have never seen, I watched the first 3 hours on Friday and settled sown to watch the end of it yesterday only to discover my daughter had deleted it!

Hostages was ok, although I must watch the first 15 minutes on catch-up,as I didn't find it until after it had started, but it seemed easy enough to work out what was going on, otherwise the only thing I turn the tv on for on a Saturday night is Casualty. Let's have something interesting and slightly amusing on, like Merlin or Atlanta, rather than yet another games show.
