No trace of another brother. If one exists, we need Sherlock Holmes on the case! :o)

I think he might be meaning Moriarty
Yes, I noticed that. I've read all the Conan Doyle and I don't recall another brother being mentioned.
yes
Yeah... I think it's just a teaser throwaway remark. Although the way the series ended it wouldn't surprise me much if Hisgarret Holmes turned up to save the day at the end of series four...
Sorry ... I've read all the Conan Doyle *books*...
Yes, I caught that too, and was intrigued. Anyone here think "Sherlock" is in danger of collapsing under the weight of its own attempts to be clever though? Although I enjoyed the show - because, frankly, I am something of a nerd - I know fine well my Mum and Dad will have hated it, thus losing potential audience share :)

lol yeah LG know what you mean, it's definitely one of those programmes you REALLY have to watch without blinking, plus making sure you go to the toilet before it starts in case you miss something vital!

I don't think it is a throwaway remark jim, ive noticed the programme doesn't do that sort of thing, everything does play a part in it. Guess we'll just have to see?
I have an encyclopaedia of 'Sherlockiana' (that's what it's called - honestly). I'll see if I can find anything.

lol, ta naomi x
My impression is it's another brother who died when Sherlock was a child - possibly as a result of some act of Sherlock.

Not sure where I got that from - I don't think I'm making it up.
Too clever by half.......No! Makes a change from programmes being dumbed down for the hard of thinking.
Well you never know, Boo. After Moriarty apparently survived shooting himself ...
Zacs, indeed it does. Love it!

S'not gonna be Moriarty is it?

Nooooo, they wouldn't do that to us- would they??
Bet they would.
Interesting that jno's article talks about Sherlock and Dr Who. I was thinking after last week's episode that Sherlock has turned into Dr Who for grown ups.
I still like it though.
I remember when i first began watching the series 'Merlin'. Having read zillions of books about King Arthur, et al, i was horrified at the liberties taken by the writers. Then i accepted them and enjoyed the series to such an extent that i was very sorry indeed when it was announced there would be no more. I expect the same will happen with with Sherlock should it transpire he has another brother. Poetic licence, i believe it is called.
perhaps he'll be red-headed with a beard
