In the comic the Predators breed them to hunt, I suppose that dosen't really relate to the film though.
I think humans would like to use them as a weapon, but the discovery of the alien craft in the original movie seems an unecessarily complicated way to infect some trial subjects if we did create the xenomorphs.
Alien vs Predator film that is a pre-film to the alian films shows the aliens being produced by the Predators as the ultimate prey for them to hunt! However the Alien and Predator books dont clarify whether they created the aliens or merely stumbled on them and decided to reproduce them for their own gains.
the alien movies were around long before the avp comics.basically no-one knows where they come from.the crew of the nostromo stumbled across the alien ship on the unknown planet in alien & in aliens man had populated the aforementioned planet.
