Im trying to find the name of a series that I was shown at school as a kid. I really don't remember much apart from the main charachter was a young boy and the intro video was him walking through various destroyed buildings with a evacuation siren playing in the background.

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately not it, this would of been from the 90's
Although not a series, this is a excellent movie regarding a child's view of the Home Front..Both moving and humerous.

I distinctly remember the intro with the sirens and planes and bombs and then the kid walking around with a satchel
The Silver Sword? I seem to remember there were perhaps 3 siblings, leaving an East European ghetto.
sure it wasn't a film?
The Silver Sword was much earlier,

What year would you have seen it at school?
Was it not the "Hovis" Advert?
I loved The Silver Sword. Pat Pleasance, Melvin Hayes and Fraser Hinds were in it, all went on to greater things.

It would have been shown to me in the early 2000s, 20005 at the latest, I'm not sure when the programme was actually made though. Sorry I don't have information.
Possibly Carries War 2004. Shown in schools.

I liked Frazer Hines as Jan in The Sliver Sword - 1959 - I thought no one else remembered it. Tresailler the author had never left english shores when he wrote it. Ignored when it was published as gloriously celebrated in a memoir by his daughter which is a preface in the modern edition

and he soared on to Jamie in Dr Who....
