After today's driving lesson. The wind calmed and the rain stopped so all was well. But we were discussing the exam and things to expect and I did well with following instructions and doing independant driving but now I'm in a flap coz it's closer than ever and there is a few things I really must tighten up on and I'm scared if I don't that's it for me :/

make sure you get plenty of practice doing all the manoeuvres before the test
just relax ,take it all in your stride, we know you can do it.
Deep breaths ....you'll be fine !!
There's no shame in not passing the first time, qom - I didn't.
Deep breath and concentrate, mention anything you are not sure of to your instructor and get the practice in. You usually have an hours lesson before the test so be firm with yourself. Good luck.
What aspects do you feel you fall short on?

I did 3 mock tests with my instructor the week before my test and "failed" all 3. When I took the actual test I stalled twice and took a wrong turn but still passed with only 4 minors.

I just kept saying to myself, "If you pass, you pass. If you don't, you don't."

instructor is going over all the manoeuvres with me Cazzz when doing test routes. Today I just couldn't get to grips with the left reverse (corner) plus my windows were all steamy and even trying to unsteam them took ages :(

I know I can do it, but I always have a habit of letting my nerves get to me.

I know its not the end of the world if I don't pass first time Boxy but in a way there is a lot riding on me passing and deep down I can't afford not to. I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket though, if I pass I pass if I fail I fail - not the end of the world.

AYG I asked about a lesson before and he said you don't have to but it does help getting relaxed and settled in the car. I love the car and I'm quite happy in it so I will most definitely be having a lesson prior to my exam. Even got my Show Me Tell Me sheets to look over today too
Dont worry if you fail, regardless of what is riding on it, whether it takes 1 or 5 times keep at it and eventually you will pass.
Queenie, don't get into a flap about it, try and practice the things that you think that you ought to tighten up on.

The Aspects I fall short on NoM are making sure that my head is seen to be moving when checking my mirrors, getting them in the right order, Observation when doing a left reverse and not stalling at blooming traffic lights

good evening queenie

i, aswell as many others here, have great faith in you - - - just don't let it prey on your mind. on the day you will either pass (of course) or fail (not a chance)

stay calm and focused .. and you will be ok
The making sure your head is moving is what failed me the first time round - I just did it with my eyes and was marked down on it. Second time, I made a big show of swivelling my head...

I will do my best Cazzz :)

Tony - I've told my friend whom I go out with for lessons I need to focus on driving but he is hell bent on getting me to practice parking....god I could park a car in my sleep - but I can't get through to him I need to practice other aspects now.

I try to mimic in my mind when I'm a passenger 'what would I do here' but its hard when you aren't in control of the car
...and my second instructor told me not to be concerned about stalling - everyone does it. What they will be looking for is that stalling doesn't cause you to panic, but that you can calmly deal with it and start the caer safely again.
Just exaggerate your head movements when checking your mirrors, Queenie.

Evening Excel

Can you come give me a pep talk on the day please :)

I always make sure I try and remember to move my head Boxy but sometimes I forget, instructor says because I wear my specs I must be vigilant and MOVE your head. I need to remember middle mirror first then which ever one next. Do you think post its on the bathroom mirror might help?
Have you told your instructor that you feel that you need to concentrate on the things that you feel you need to tighten up on ?.

I managed to avoid stalling today thank fully, I was told if you stall twice now its seen as a Serious Fault. I try not to dwell on stalling though and I can remain calm now and get on my way.

I will make sure I do Tony don't worry :)
Question Author
Yes we both know what I need to work on and he usually asks me what I want to go over in my next lesson
Thinking of the stalling, do you always have your lesson in the same car, Queenie ?.
