If anyone watches The Chase ?, does it seem fair that at the final chase whether there are 1 or 4 contestants left they have to buzz and then the announcer names that person( who buzzed) and then they answer the question, as opposed to when the "chaser" is given his 2mins he is able to answer immediately without interruption, therefore he has an unfair advantage over the contestants,............ is it me ? or have I misunderstood the concept of this quiz.

I agree with you.
It does delay things a bit but then on the other hand if the Chaser gets a question wrong the contestants have a chance to add that to their tally, so it probably balances out in the end.

Thank you. I thought it was just me !!
I really like The Chase and have never thought about it before. Yes I guess it does give the chaser an advantage.
I love it when the contestants win, as it isn't the norm. It's probably one of the only game shows where winning is a rarity, and that's why I like it.
Would you be tempted to 'av a go and enter?
I don't understand why there has to be an announcer to tell us who has buzzed.
And if only 1 person goes through they get 1 on the board. If 4 go through they get 4. That doesn't seem fair.
I would love to have a go at the Chase at some point, despite this slight handicap.

I think if someone other than the "buzzer" answers, the answer does not count, I guess that is in the rules. Thanks to all of you.
Oooh, should we get together an AB team and have a crack at it?
Thinking about it, I can see the need for a buzzer. If more than one person answered at the same time, giving different answers, it would be chaos!

I think if I had a go I would say " I am old, retired," and then would let my team down with a "senior" moment when I wouldn't even remember my own name !!
:o) It looks so easy when your watching doesn't it, I bet there are a few knees knocking when it's your own turn
I dare say the trick with these things is to get into a sort of rhythm. Once you're settled, say by getting the first question right, then you can relax into it. If you don't get into a comfort zone you can become a nervous wreck! Which is never fun to watch... but never mind.

It would be a great experience to go on the show. I've applied once, no luck... might try again at some point though!
If you do get on it Jim, let us know and we'll give you a wave :o)
I will do if I do get on... fingers crossed, eh?

I think you can rely on me saying about it, I could barely shut up about my time on University Challenge last year... :P
lol, I hope you do. All the best Jim
I'd also love to go on the Chase. I phoned loads of times to go on Who wants to be a Millionaire but never got called.

Jim 360, Let's hope you do get on the show, give us a wink as a "secret sign" and you know we will all be rooting for you. Good Luck. Thanks to all for your replies. Have a lovely day, Just off to Marks food department (heaven ) !!
Have fun nelliebee!
"So, James, you've had some experience at quizzes?"

"Oh, a little, but I'm certainly no Answer bank..."
