...can I suggest 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'.

Best special effects I've seen since...Jurassic Park.

Absolutely astonishing. After a while, you forget you're looking at motion capture, and actually just accept what you're seeing as 'real'.

The Oscar for best special effects next year, is in the bag.

Highly recommended.

(And the story has emotional weight too, with some fine acting thrown in from the humans too...)

best special effects ever: Darby O'Gill and the Little People. Nothing electronic and yet they're just astonishingly realistic. And you get to see pre-Bond Sean Connery... playing an Irishman, of course.
