I am sure I remember reading a (very good) review on a British gangster type flick that may have had Clive Owen in it, but definately had Gary Stretch in it (ex-boxer).  I think it was about a revenge murder, or something like that.  (I think Stretch's character returned home from the army or something).  Anyway it never got to the cinema, as far as I know.  Does anyone remember what it was called?  If so, and you have seen it, was it any good?

A Good Night to die??????????

Actually, the film you describe sounds like 'Gangster Number 1", but lacks Gary Stretch.

The film you're after is 'Dead Mans Shoes' Follow the link http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419677/
I have this on DVD and yes its very good, the reviews on the IMDB site as mentioned by Carlos will back this up.
the movie is mike hodges' "I'll sleep when I'm dead". The skinny: ex-heavy joins the rat race to track down the man responsible for his brother's death.
I'm so sorry. If it has Gary Stretch in it, it is "Deadman's Shoes". Revenge flick by Shane Meadows. Is it any good? Yes it is. Despite the home movie feel to it all which I believe was deliberate.
