Commonwealth Games On Bbc1
7 Answers
Have BBC1 lost the plot? As from Thursday until the end of the Games they are showing the Commonwealth Games on BBC1 from 9.00AM to midnight. I like sport but why put it on the main channel, surely it would be better to put it on BBC2/3/4 and leave BBC1 unchanged. Or, perhaps, there are millions of viewers who want to watch continual, wall to wall, sport.

Didnt know that Supermike, what are they playing at, and what about the millions who don't like sport. The trouble with athletics is all the waiting about after one event has been shown, and we have to listen to all the commentators talking about this and that for ages. What are the women going to do about no East Enders?

Maybe they feel some political pressure to do so- if the Games were in London it would be on BBC1 I'm sure so they feel it may look like a snub to Scotland not to do it. What happened when they were in Manchester?
I agree though- it's a far easier to put them on another channel, but i think experience shows many people are creatures of habit in terms of which channel they turn to

It's to ensure top ratings for their top channel. Because believe it or not there are.
Can't you just use the "change channel button" to find the programmes that would have been on BBC1? Because presumably those programmes will still be on and it will be the decent stuff on BBC2 which will be sacrificed.
