Just watched old programme on Challenge. contestant said "final answer " after saying answer was rose to question " damask " why did Chris Tarrant not take this & he walked away with £150000 instead of getting £250000

The repeat shows on Challenge are edited. The contestant must have waffled, changed their mind, and walked away with £150K. If they'd been wrong they would have dropped back down to 32K

Not sure what you mean by nothing out of the ordinary II_billym, he said the words " final answer " therefore he had won £250,000

I've been thinking about this for a while and yes you are right, it looked like he did say final answer but corrected himself before Chris said anything, after this he did have plenty of time to confirm if that was his final answer again though and bottled it so in my mind neither he, nor you should find wrong in this situation. Close call though, good spot.

Because he didn't say it firmly enough for CT to be sure it really was his actual final answer. I'm not sure he finished the word "answer". Didn't the woman before, in the link posted by ll_billym, also say "final answer" when she said she'd take the money, but then changed her mind and lost?

Was it not tarrant being his usual all pally act .the guy did not go for it .glad that show is over a classical example of greed ,people being used for cheap entertainment .
