...If a radio station has a competition running and to enter by text will cost the listener say £1 plus 'standard network rate' what percentage of the total text revenue does the radio station get...can anyone offer any information. Thanks
There will be a £1 collected by someone, but how much the radio station gets depends on what arrangement they have. There may be a third party that splits the money with the radio company
I Have been told - but not confirmed - that BT get a proportion of the £1 too!
It would also be intersting how many people, on average, enter these competitions to see if the thousands offered as a prize is a money spinner for the radio (or TV) station
When I'm at work I'm forced to endure Absolute Radio... the station can't be changed unfortunately...all day long the listeners are encouraged to enter competitions ..sent in your vote for..contact your favourite DJ ...just make a comment about a programme and other stuff as well and every one of these is a 50p or £1 text, the income must be staggering.
As it would be a text I don't see how BT are involved or could get anything from it. They'd only get a portion of phone calls in to a competition, or whatever.
Never saw the sense of making a radio station's programme for free, and worse actually pay them to do so. And one's text might not even be used !
But to answer the OP, I haven't a clue how the ill gotten gains are divvied up.
