Is it fairly common for the CD player to pack in on the Bose player? Ours has,as has my nephews, and is there an easy fix?

I don't know about "fairly common", but I would regard the CD player in this sort of unit to be the weakest link....and the most likely to give trouble. That's because it has a laser (which can burn out) and moving parts (likely to wear out). In comparison, the electronics could last forever!
