How Would You Say This Text Number?
31 Answers
There is an appeal on tv for funds for Sudan, and the doctor who is making the appeal tells us to text 70800 but he says 'text seventy eight hundred' - surely that would be 7800 and if anyone had trouble seeing the number on the screen they would text the wrong one. Or is it me?

It's to make the number more memorable. "Seventy, Eight-hundred" is a little more catchy and less of a mouth-full than "Seven, Zero, Eight, Zero, Zero". But granted, your point about the way the doctor delivers the number may not be the best. But then if he is a real doctor - rather than an actor - delivering lines to camera may not be his forte.
